The Associazione Culturale Ville Borbone e Dimore Storiche della Versilia (Versilia Riviera Bourbon Villas and Historic Houses Cultural Association) was founded in 2014 with the aim of promoting a less renowned aspect of the Versilia area, its historical and artistic heritage. Guided tours, tours with re-enactment, living history, itineraries, events and educational, editorial, cultural and tourism projects all form part of our initiative to involve local residents and visitors alike.
The Association represents a network of private and state-owned historic villas and houses along the Versilia Riviera and hinterland. The lasting appeal of these homes and houses, keepers of great historic and artistic heritage, also reflects the celebrity of those who once lived there. Our Association looks forward to welcoming you to this cultural experience.
The Versilia Riviera, set against the majestic backdrop of the Apuan Alps, stretches southwards along the sandy coastline from Massa: at first glance, a long, sunny beach. That’s not the whole story: the Versilia Riviera offers much more… historic places, local traditions, art and gastronomy.
Some of Italy’s most beautiful medieval villages and hamlets and historic country houses, breath-taking views and fascinating alternatives to the beach, within easy reach of the coast and are absolute gems of art, history and culture.
Exceptional scenery and true hospitality, footpaths, cycle paths, lake excursions, small hilltop villages and trekking in the Apuan Alps – so many facets for a unique experience.
